The performance showcases the music that has landed them individually on stages with Dwight Yoakam\, Tyler Childers\, Marty Stuart and Colter Wall. This unique and intimate show is sure to rouse audiences of all ages. \nBelle Plaine is an independent\, award-winning songwriter working on her fourth full-length studio album\, The Weather. SUMMARY:SEASON OPENER Write Out Loud with Author Sharon Butala
DESCRIPTION:Sharon Butala – Leaving Wisdom and How to Breathe Water \nA road trip through the prairies prompts acclaimed writer Sharon Butala to unearth the stories of the natural world around her\, and at the same time revisit her own personal histories. Taking stock of the people and places she has lost and left behind brings her to the ultimate confrontation – with mortality – which she explores with uncommon wisdom and frankness. She is a three-time finalist for the Governor General’s Literary Award\, and is a recipient of the Glengarry Book Award\, the Marian Engel Award\, the Saskatchewan Order of Merit\, the Cheryl and Henry Kloppenburg Award for Literary Excellence\, the City of Calgary W.O. Mitchell Book Prize\, and three honourary doctorates. She lives in Saskatoon. \nShawn Mooney is a Saskatoon-based BookTuber (“BookTube” is the community of avid readers with channels on YouTube). His channel\, “Shawn Breathes Books\,” is here. He primarily reads and discusses literary fiction\, including works in translation and by queer\, Western Canadian\, and women writers. \nDoors @ 6:30pm $8 Admission \nOpener: Brad Mahon @7pm \nSharon Butala will follow \nEvent Sponsors Canada Council for the Arts
