SUMMARY:DON LAW with Tombstone Whiskey
DESCRIPTION:Doors: 7pm\nShow: 8pm\nTickets: $25 advance SCROLLING DOWN to get tickets\n$30 at door\n+ taxes and fees \nDON LAW is an indie/alt rock band still searching for where they belong. One minute they’re trying to put their hands through their instruments\, and the next minute it’s an acoustic ballad. Canadian to the core\, they have seen it all\, but deciding to put down roots in Saskatoon you can feel the dichotomy that is characteristic of life on the prairies played out in their music. Frontman Matt Hoeft (lead vocals\, rhythm guitar)\, Markus Beveridge (lead guitar\, backing vocals)\, Kevin Reilly (bass guitar\, backing vocals)\, and Greg Jennings (drums) combine their interests from all over the musical landscape to create a sound that is in your face – with dynamic and volatile vocals\, towering guitars\, melodic bass lines\, and powerful expressive drums – that can never quite kick the Saskatchewan flair. From garage jams to live shows they are gradually harnessing their raw and unfiltered sound\, delivering the stories and spirit that encapsulate their take on the prairie life. DON LAW recorded and released their debut EP earlier this year\, earning them a SaskMusic Featured Single\, radio interviews and ongoing airplay in Saskatoon and Regina (e.g.\, Rock102\, CFCR90.5\, CJTR91.3\, QCindie) and a steadily growing fanbase. They also recently released two stripped-back\, live-off-the-floor music videos on YouTube via the Sask One Mic recording series. They stay active in the live music scene\, regularly playing shows in and around Saskatoon. With more shows booked further around the province for this Fall\, DON LAW continues to grow and build momentum\, looking forward to where future opportunities will take them. \nTombstone Whiskey:\nTombstone Whiskey started as a 2-piece band in 2013. Swift Current\, Saskatchewan has a vibrant local rock music scene\, with several bands actively performing and releasing music. Tombstone Whiskey is a prominent local band known for their high-energy rock and original songs. The original idea was founded by Darrin Schwartz after moving to Swift Current Darrin Schwartz met co-worker Mike Zacharias and the two of them started practicing together and creating blue collar rock. Soon after Mike and Darrin were joined by Brad Podolski on bass guitar. Now they were able to continue to hone their skills and develop their craft. In 2022 veteran lead guitar player Kevin Steinley joined and the band has been making waves ever since\, some of their notable accomplishments include making it to the quarterfinals of 2024 and 2025 Rolling Stone Magazine’s “America’s Next Top Hitmaker”\, being featured on three of Dead Prairie’s Productions films\, local and international airplay on multiple independent radio stations all over the world\, and mass media attention in and around Swift Current\, Sk. Tombstone Whiskey released their newest album “Come Get Some” June 1st/26.

SUMMARY:Saskatchewan on Screen — A Triple Feature
DESCRIPTION:Doors 3:00 PM\nfirst film 3:30 pm \nThe Lyric Theatre presents a triple feature celebrating Saskatchewan on screen: Drylanders (1962)\, filmed in and around Swift Current\, Paper Wheat (1979)\, and How the Fiddle Flows (2002). Three National Film Board documentaries capturing prairie history\, community\, and culture. \nFilm Descriptions:\nDrylanders (1962)\nDrylanders was the National Film Board’s first English-language feature film. It was shot in and around Swift Current in 1961\, making it a genuine piece of local history as much as national film history\, and it marked the NFB’s first attempt at a dramatic feature after decades of documentary work. The film follows a family who leave Eastern Canada to homestead in Saskatchewan at the turn of the century\, battling hail\, drought\, and the Depression across three decades on the land. \nPaper Wheat (1979)\nPaper Wheat is a National Film Board documentary capturing the acclaimed 25th Street Theatre stage production of the same name\, which told the story of early Saskatchewan settlers and the founding of the wheat pool co-op movement through interviews with the farmers who lived it. The original stage show became the most successful production in Saskatchewan theatre history\, and this filmed version preserves that story\, and the era of cooperative economic organization it documents\, for audiences who never saw it live. \nHow the Fiddle Flows (2002)\nHow the Fiddle Flows follows four master Métis fiddlers playing through a summer night in southern Saskatchewan\, tracing how the fiddle travelled west along the fur-trading rivers and was passed down through generations of intermarriage between European newcomers and Indigenous communities. The film is a document of how a distinct Métis musical tradition\, blending European folk melody with First Nations rhythm\, took shape across the Prairies\, and it stands as a celebration of Métis culture specifically within Saskatchewan’s broader story.

SUMMARY:Pride Film Screening
DESCRIPTION:Join the Art Gallery of Swift Current and Southwest Saskatchewan Pride for two film screenings on July 10\, 2026. \n7 PM:  1st movie:  all ages\n9 PM:  2nd movie:  19+\nDoors open 6:30 pm\nTickets FREE Donations to SW Pride will be accepted \nWe Are Pat (2025)\nDirector: Rowan Haber\nJuly 10\, 7pm\nMany iconic Saturday Night Live characters made the leap to the big screen in the 1990s: Mary Katherine Gallagher\, the Roxbury Guys\, Wayne and Garth\, and\, of course\, Pat. These films are unmistakably products of their time\, but We Are Pat confronts the aging of comedy head-on. \nWe Are Pat explores the evolution of gender identity and comedy from the ’90s to the present day through the lens of the iconic Saturday Night Live sketch\, It’s Pat. The film examines Pat’s origins as a joke rooted in the cultural anxiety of the ’90s while drawing striking parallels to today’s culture wars. To work through its findings\, trans and non-binary comedians and culture-makers reimagine the original Pat sketches\, using camp and humour in an attempt to reclaim the iconic character. Through these reinterpretations\, alongside interviews with Julia Sweeney herself\, the film ultimately asks: is Pat worth saving? \nTracy & Martina: Goin’ Out West (2025)\nDirector: Brendan Lyle\nJuly 10\, 9pm\nIf Barb and Star were headed to the West Edmonton Mall instead of Vista Del Mar\, this offbeat and wildly entertaining mockumentary would be the result. \nIf you’ve ever prepared for a trip by cashing in your empties or packing your clothes into a Sobeys bag\, you may have found your people in Tracy (Justine Williamson) and Martina (Greg Vardy)\, two best friends from Cape Breton who got famous online by documenting their distinctly East Coast lifestyles. Tracy & Martina: Goin’ Out West follows the duo as they head to Alberta on tour to open for a local band. But when plans fall through and resentments rise to the surface\, they must band together to find a way home or risk being stuck in Alberta forever (not that there’s anything wrong with that). \nThis event is presented in partnership with Inside Out Film Festival and sponsored by RBC. \n
